Middle East Conflict Questions

1. How did your country get involved in the Arab-Israeli conflict in the Middle East?
The 9/11 attack on the world trade center led the United States to go to war with Iraq and Afghanistan. This also led for the search for Al Quida.

2. What is the history of your country's involvement in that conflict, from when it entered until now? (This will likely be a long answer...)
Well, The United States entered the war after the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001. The United States needed to to protect them selves in case of another terrorist attack. They felt threatened and had to protect their borders. With this going on, the United States have been spending so much money on the war that the economy went bad. Plus, the war also resulted for the raise in gas prices since Afghanistan and Iraq are suppliers of oil. Now its no easy to stay in Iraq knowing that Americans are going through hard times because of the war and debt the Bush administration put the U.S.

3. Who are your enemies in the Middle East? Why?
Mainly Iraq and Afghanistan because of 9/11. But most of the middle east doesn't like us because of the way we handle situations like this. People also think that Americans are greedy and care most about money.

4. Who are your friends in the Middle East? Why?
Israel is probably one of the U.S. allies because they are a good supplier of weapons and oil. Also Israel would help us if anything bad was going on.

5. What does your country want out of the Arab-Israeli conflict?
Well, since going into Iraq many Americans have been killed and the economy has been demolishing because of the reason that America has been spending trillions of dollars on the war. Thus putting the U.S. in a Trillion dollar debt. The United States mainly want help to get out of debt and for people to stop makin threats on the U.S. so they don't have to declare war. Also so countries don't attack the U.S.

6. What is it prepared to give up to get what it wants?
The United States could be less demanding and cut back on some oil and supplies that isn't that important to the U.S.

7. What will it not give up to get what it wants?
The U.S. will probably not give up any land and not cut back on oil immensely. The U.S. needs the oil to run the cars, industries, and planes. The U.S. probably won't give away any money knowin that there in a Trillion dollar debt.

Reflection Post Questions

1. What did you learn?
-I learned about midevil torture weapons and how they worked. I learned mostly about the guillotine, the torture chair, and the thumbscrew.

2. What was your research question?
-What was the purpose of the guillotine, torture chair, and thumbscrew.

3. What was the answer to your research question?
-The purpose of the guillotine was to publicly kill someone. The purpose of the torture chair is to extract confessions and slowly kill the person. The purpose of the thunbscrew is to also extract confessions and crush the thumbs of the person.

4. Did your final product answer that question? How?
-Yes, because the websites that I found told a lot about how each of the torture devises worked and what they looked like.

5. What did you do well on the project?
-The research and the models.

6. What could you have improved on the project?
-We could have been more prepared.

7. What would you change about what you did on the project?
-We would have made the models sooner, and made them look more alike to the real thing.

8. What would you change about the assignment itself?
-Less notecards and less research on the subject.

9. What grade do you think you deserve on the project? Why?
-A because I think we did a good job on the research and we knew what we were doing. I also think that our models were made really good and depicted on what the real object was.

Today I made my plan and made sure everything was organized for the presentation of my project. I also did my status report.

Plan

First me and Hannah made the torture chair. We found an old chair and put card board over it to make it look better. We looked off a picture which is my notecard #30. After we assembled the chair we stuck nails into it to make the spikes. After we put the nails in, we spray painted it to make it have the bronze color like in the picture.

Second we made the guillotine. We found wood and cut out the shapes to make the guillotine look like in the picture we looked off of. Which was index card #28. After we cut out all the wood we basically assembled it together with nails and screws.

Status Report

1. What have I accomplished on my project so far?
-I've made all the models with Hannah and we both finished our research.
2. What do I still have left to do?

- We still have to get everything organized and make our plan.
3. What has been harder than I thought it would be?
- The research and finding more websites for everything.

4. What has been easier than I thought it would be?
-Making the index cards and the models. Neither one was too difficult.

5. How would I do my project differently if I could start over again?
-I wouldn't wait to the last minute on some things and I would also maybe not make models but mybe make a movie or something.
6. What do I need to get accomplished before Spring Break?

-All the index cards to be done and have a plan to make the models.
